HAZWOPER 8 Hour Refresher Course March 02, 2018

This is an eight hour refresher course that is required annually to maintain the HAZWOPER 40 hour certification. The class will cover hazard recognition & assessment, group exercise: risk abatement and remediation, OSHA subpart instruction, Construction fire protection & prevention, lock out tag out, Personal protective equipment, Hazardous communication 1910.120, hazardous material response spill & release response, DOT erg placarding review, incident command for hazardous materials response, and emergency response and spill recovery review. Cost: Instruction is free of charge, made possible by a grant from The NYS DOL Occupational Safety & Health Training & Education Program . However, there is a $18.00 per person fee for lunch, snacks, beverages.

OSHA Cranes & Derricks Qualified Rigger Training March 12, 2018

The course encompasses both formal lecture and hands-on exercises to assist the students in the proper selection and use of lifting devices, as well as the various types of hitches and configurations to prevent unintentional load dis-placement. Students will be given practical and tabletop exercises consisting of load calculations, component selection and proper component use to demonstrate their application of the information learned. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics most recent data, 42% of the fatalities associated with crane use were a result of employees being struck by falling objects, primarily from the loads transported. This course is designed to discuss the use, care, maintenance, and in-spection of various below-the-hook lifting devices, including alloy-chain slings, wire-rope slings, nylon and synthetic web slings, clevis, eyebolts, hooks, hoist rings and wedge sockets. Students who successfully complete the course will receive a course completion certificate. Course Time: 7 hours

Flagger Safety & Traffic Control March 13, 2018

Work on New Yorks roadways is one of the most hazardous of all construction occupations. This course is designed to discuss the hazards associated with worker exposure to vehicular traffic and temporary traffic control and give students the opportunity to practice flagging methods in a controlled environment. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to recognize the need to use specified equipment when performing flagging responsibilities, correctly execute the stop/proceed/slow directions, set up a flagger station to maximize their own safety, the safety of their crew and passing motorists as well as perform emergency flagging.

OSHA Cranes & Derricks Qualified Signal Person March 13, 2018

This course will assist with compliance of OSHAs new Cranes and Derricks Standard. Statistics show that 25% of all crane fatalities are a result of contact with overhead electrical power lines. Of these fatalities, those at greatest risk are workers on foot, touching or guiding loads or cables. This course is designed for those individuals who will signal crane operators during lifting operations and ensure they are qualified. Individuals who complete this course will know and understand the type of signals used including radio signals and standard methods for hand signals; gain competence in the application of the type of signals used; acquire a basic understanding of equipment operation and limitations, including Crane dynamics involved in swinging and stopping loads and boom deflection from hoisting loads; know and understand the relevant requirements of OSHA Parts 1926.1419 through 1926.1422 and Part 1926.1428. Participants will be required to demonstrate their understanding of these requirements through both a written and practical examination. Students who successfully complete the course and pass both examinations will receive a course completion card stating which types of signaling they are qualified in.

OSHA 10 Hour Mandated Safety Training March 19, 2018

This is a 10 hour safety training course that satisfies the newly established law requiring all workers on prevailing rate jobs over $250,000.00 to have this class as mandated minimum training. The new law took effect July 18, 2008. It will provide the 10 hours of required training which includes an introduction to OSHAs health and safety standards for the construction industry. The program is tailored to first line supervisors, foreman and workers responsible for and involved in construction field operations. Participants will be instructed on the basics of understanding, interpreting and knowing how to use OSHA Construction Standards. Monday, March 19th 11:30 AM to 5:00 PM and Tuesday, March 20th 7:00 AM to 12:30 PM Cost: Instruction is free of charge, made possible by a grant from The NYS DOL Occupational Safety & Health Training & Education Program . However, there is a $15.00 per person fee for snacks, beverages, and OSHA card fee.
